Rise of the Widget Warriors
September 7, 2008 – 3:01 pmNow its not live yet on the beta site, but we wanted to introduce a valuable upcoming feature that is going to help define YouBundle as a valuable tool for webmasters.
Drumroll please…
That is right we have a Widget.
Most people don’t even know what the word widget means, but the easiest way to understand is that it is a snippet of code that you can place in your website and it loads dynamic content from the site you grabbed it from. Ever embedded a YouTube Video? Well that is a widget as well.
So lets learn about the YouBundle Widget. It is essentially a mini-version of the bundle in scrollable single column that you can port to your site.
Why is this valuable?
Because lets say that you are writing a blog post on a subject - any subject - well you can goto YouBundle and search for that subject and will find a nicly made bundle ready to go. As an accessory to your post, you can include the widget at the end for your readers to find more resources on the subject. Or better yet you can make the bundle yourself on the subject of your expertise and then grab the widget to port to your post. The list can go onwards
The point being that YouBundle is a platform for people to gather and share link information on their best subjects and the Widget is another and valuable tool to be able to port this information across the web.
Now we don’t think we are going to be able to release this feature when it is in private beta as it really requires a live site to be effective, so look for this to play with on the upcoming launch.
Ps. we also have an XML feed of Bundle Data coming, but we will save that for another post.
Here are some shots of the Widget in action (still in design phase, so be nice)
